How location works when you post an item:
When you use Firesale’s app to list an item with our video + AI feature, we collect the GPS coordinates of where the video was recorded. This helps us understand where your sale is located so we can show it to the right local buyers.
🔒 Your exact address is never shown.
Instead of displaying the precise location, we show an approximate area — usually within a few blocks or a general neighborhood zone. This gives buyers a helpful estimate of how far away an item is, without revealing your home address or pinpoint location.
It works similarly to how companies like Airbnb or DoorDash use location — helpful, but always respectful of your privacy.
For buyers: Add your address to unlock better features
If you’re a buyer and you add your home address or preferred delivery location to your Firesale profile (private and secure), we can provide:
More accurate travel time estimates to nearby items
Smarter search results based on your distance
Shipping cost previews (when available) for items outside your area
